About Claudiocorallochocolate
Why We Ended Up Writing About Paperwork
Claudiocorallochocolate works on garage doors across Huntington Beach, out of Talbert Ave in the 92646 ZIP. Springs, openers, sections, hardware, the usual list. What made us build a site about quotes rather than about doors was how often the first call was somebody reading an estimate to us over the phone, trying to work out what they were being sold.
That call comes in the same shape almost every time. Three companies came out. The figures are a long way apart. Nobody wrote down what the door is.
The Problem Is Not the Price
It is that most garage door estimates do not describe a product. A line reading new insulated door, installed, with a figure after it, can honestly cover a bare bones twenty five gauge door with polystyrene board and reused springs, or a twenty four gauge door with injected polyurethane, galvanised hardware and a new high cycle spring set. Both are new insulated doors. They are not the same purchase and they should not carry the same price.
When the paperwork does not distinguish them, the buyer has no way to compare, so the decision falls back to whichever number is lowest or whichever salesperson was most convincing. Neither of those is a good way to choose.
What We Decided to Do About It
We itemise. Model number, series, gauge, insulation type and R value, hardware grade, spring cycle rating, whether the old door is removed, whether a permit applies, what the deposit is and what the balance schedule is. It takes longer to write. It also means anybody can take our quote to a competitor and ask them to bid the same specification, which is exactly what we want them to be able to do.
We also read quotes we did not write. Send one over and you will get an honest read of it, including when the answer is that it looks fine and the price is reasonable. We are not interested in talking anybody out of a good deal that somebody else offered.
The Line We Hold
We will not give a firm price for a door replacement without seeing the opening, because headroom, backroom, the header and the existing track all change the job. We will not take a deposit larger than the law allows. We will not tell you a price expires tonight.
